Dear NO mate,
RGJ - You obviously no fuck all about them you negative wally.
- The Black mafia. The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and the Rifle Brigade.
In modern times The Royal Green Jackets, now the Rifles.
Peninsula War.
1808-14. Renowned for fitness, initiative and fighting spirit in Spain and Portuga, Riflemen were the first to be issued rifles and 'swords' rather than muskets and bayonets.
World War I 1914-18. The Forming Regiments of The Rifles made a massive contribution, earning 49 Victoria Crosses.
World War II
1939-45. The first Mechanised Infantry, and first soldiers on the ground on D Day (Pegasus Bridge) were Riflemen.
The regiment reminds me of the West ham way and humour of the West Ham Old School firms.
A quote. Leaders who really know and care for their riflemen, a leadership style based on absolute professionalism, self discipline, mutual trust and loyalty, a spirit of self reliance , historic tradition of the "fighting, thinking rifleman", a forward looking attitude, a level of competence and military effectiveness which are second to none, and knowledge that all of this comes through hard work and getting the detail right, but without making a meal of it.
Doing things different - and that is with a light touch, a sense of humour, style and a spirit of adventure, without fuss and without any form of rigid formality.
It is based on mutual confidence, mutual respect, mutual affection and a love of soldiering. The Green Jacket way combines a light touch with a tight grip, a difficult trick to pull off if relaxed efficiency is not to descend into relaxed inefficiency.
Check these quotes for from those that really know about War and Battles.
"I have the pleasure to observe that this Regiment possesses an excellent spirit and that both officers and men take a pride in doing their duty. Their movement in the field is perfect; it is evident that not only the officers, but that each individual soldier knows perfectly what he has to do; the discipline is carried on without severity: the officers are attached to the men, the men to the officers." Sir John Moore
"Six years of warfare could not detect a flaw in their system, nor were they matched in courage or skill. These three regiments were obviously the best that England ever had under arms. This is no ideal boast".
Lord Napier
"And what more can I say to you Riflemen that wherever there has been fighting there you have been, and wherever you have been, there you have distinguished yourself.“
King William IV.
“They have added another glorious page to the glories of the Light Division.”
Sir Winston Churchill.
913 battle honours, world record 117 Victoria Crosses (VC) and has a living history that is second to none.
The Light infantry. All and any battle with this mob.
But I am a biased Rifleman. But proud despite ending up a mess in life.
They have the humour, loyalty and, class of thinking men that remind me of West Ham supporters when I was younger.
If anyone begs to differ , sweet , it's just my opinion. I am no War historian but seek one out STROMING NORMAN, but I teach this to MCOE SPAIN teaching English STANAG 6001 , to Mando Command Operations Especiales , basically Spain's special forces, that has one of lowest pass rates on their Special Forces course due to its toughness. Obviously nowhere near as good as SAS or Israel's Sayeret Matkal , proper shit hot also.
Shit at my job - FUCK OFF CUNT - 2 MEDALS and I am on a pension and got a 50k payout as got 7 pins and two metal plates in my ankle happened in Vitez, Bosnia. Spunked it all thats why fucked up now.
Exemplary record.
WHY GO through to be an an NCO when had no intention of doing my 22 years and going up the ranks.
Nah Stormin Norman, Out of 8, 2 years of this was cushty but blinding on an Army Youth Recruitment team based at Sir John More Barracks Winchester but travelled every city and ran adventure training camps for up to 200 kids, cadets, and also working as enemy or training exercises for Sandhurst officers. Working up and down the country.
Didn't need to be an NCO we were all equal regardless.
Steve AKA ANDY MCNAB started out as a Green Jacket, before SAS. He would laugh in your face.
As for RGJ helping out - again - they have bailed me out of Prison in Ibiza, well sent money when in the nick, and helped with costs and paid for a rehab once. Too embarrassed to ask them.
But anyone here who wants to work middle east as Private security on pukka pukka money inbox me , the best companies are run by ex rifleman , same with close protection work in UK. They look after good people and happy to help Re. Jobs for good people with the correct training.
The company that supplies all radios to nearly every ground in UK and more is RGJ - hence the invite me and defjam got to see first hand the construction of new gaff 3/4 complete. Unfortunately Defjam was late or couldn't make it but joined us to go to the Emirates for an inside tour and being polite and accepting the offer.
Too early to bite at your post.
Have a good day.
What in your opinion is your favourite Regiment and who did you serve with to gain your fountain of wisdom re. Military.
Unfortunately Stormin in Norman - why be an NCO for a few shillings more with more responsibilities, when back then only the Pin heads wanted to be an NCO , also the guys married.
PEOPLE OF WHO ON THIS THREAD - DO I need to post my service book and medals and exemplary record etc or can I Just show Flying V or Joe Royal in Madrid??????? And just to be clear you have totally insulted Sir Henry Worsley and his family, a former legend of an officer of the Royal green Jackets who died doing something you would never have the balls , strength or fitness in your life to do. - So did not want to call you a cunt , but you clearly are.
Have a beautiful day.
COYI.

Peckham,
Doesn't matter the circumstances around the service, military service is military service.
I have to admit to being the most middle of the road, dull as dishwater, live devoid of drama supporter on the whole of WHO so can begin to give you advise and direct empathy as, safe to say your experience to date would be a headfuck for most.
What I do know is that you are blaming yourself too much and dwelling on stuff that is done and that you cannot change.
I also know that the only way to deal with something huge is to do it a little bit at a time, day by day, not expecting to make big leaps forward but stubbornly refusing to take steps backwards.
You'll soon be sufficiently up where we can cunt you off with impunity. I look forward to the day.
